Who We Are

One Acre Fund is an agricultural NGO that is innovating a new way of helping farm families to achieve their full potential. We provide improved seed and fertiliser to our clients on credit in order to help them grow their own way out of poverty. We currently operate in 8 countries in East and Southern Africa. One Acre Fund is now expanding to Nigeria and our plan is to grow even more and become one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing professional organisations. To help lead this growth, we are looking for an Office and Human Resources Administrator to start immediately.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

As a One Acre Fund Office and Human Resource Administrator in the HQ team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day administration required to keep our team working in the field. As this is an initial role within our new team, there is an opportunity for the right candidate to grow into a specialisation such as Office Management, Human Resources, Government Relations or Logistics and Procurement. This will be based entirely upon your performance.

 

  • Build team by finding and engaging with a pool of local talent to build our future team for coming seasons
  • Support routine tasks
    • Scout for warehouses, office and living spaces and land for trials within guidelines
    • Facilitate introductions and engagements with traditional institutions, local and state governments
    • Support with translation tasks as required
  • Logistics and procurement
    • Organise sourcing from reliable local suppliers (e.g. printing, office materials, etc.)
    • Manage local logistics (i.e. sourcing drivers and vehicles)
  • Work with other teams within the OAF office and complete other tasks as required

 

Our Requirements and Qualifications

  • Ordinary / Higher National Diploma (OND/HND)
  • Ideally 1-3 years of professional work experience in a related work area with a friendly personality and a professional and proactive work attitude
  • Fluency in English and Hausa essential, fluency in Gweria an advantage
  • Strong computer skills with e-mail, Microsoft Word and Excel and Google applications suite
  • Humility; a willingness to get your shoes muddy and work productively with people from all walks of life
  • An extensive familiarity with the local area, communities, cultures and customs
