Senior Officer-Fixed Assets

To effectively control and coordinate the recording of fixed asset inventory, ensure accurate updates to the fixed asset register for additions, disposals and retirements, and supervise periodic physical verification and tagging of the company’s fixed assets
KEY ACCOUNTABLITIES
Review of receipts and issuance of capital inventory at warehouses and ensure proper accounting entries
Update and review of CWIP Accounts and ensure accurate accounting for materials issued to site
Obtain details of site on Air from Networks including capitalization certificate and ensure capitalization of materials in CWIP for the site on Air as at 25th of the month cut-off date
Keeping of accurate supporting documents for items in CWIP Accounts
Ensure provisional capitalization for site on Air post 25th of the month cut-off date
Review of mass additions entries and obtain from AP all supporting documents for capital services
Accurate capitalization of capital expenses into CWIP or Fixed Assets Register (FAR)
Preparation of ageing Analysis of CWIP Accounts and ensure accurate provisions in line with the Group Guideline on CWIP Provisions
Preparation of CWIP-GL Accounts Reconciliation
Reconciliation of Capital inventory accounts
Preparation of all AG and FA Disclosure schedules
SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE
Educational Qualifications and Functional / Technical Skills
· A degree in Accounting or Business related courses or other relevant numerate courses. Professional Accounting Qualification is a must (i.e. ACA or ACCA)
Relevant Experience (Type of experience and minimum number of years)
· Microsoft office suite, Analytical and Reporting Skills. Sound Financial Accounting knowledge.
· Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Accounting and Finance. 3 of the last 5 years must be
Obtained from Telecoms industry.

To accurately record fixed assets inventory with additions, disposals and retirements, properly file all fixed assets transaction documents to ensure easy retrieval and prepare, collate and present accurate supports to standard monthly fixed assets reports.
KEY ACCOUNTABLITIES
Working with SCM/Legal on sourcing and finalization of agreement with Agents for FA Physical Verification
Preparation and Circulation of Physical Verification (PV) Templates for the Agents
Issue letter of Authority to agents and provide all logistics for PV and tagging exercise
Coordination of PV field works and prompt resolution of all issues
Consolidation of reports of all the sites for Networks assets, locations for other non-networks assets and warehouses for the Technical
Calculating and identifying discrepancies and/or differences between records from the physical count and book records and preparing a reconciliation of the two records
Obtain relevant Technical certificates from Networks for all non-verifiable assets (e.g. fibre optic cables, copper wire cables, and assets at customer locations
Prepare and present physical verification reports in summary per assets, and in detail per site or location. Also, a comparative report showing asset details per verification and FA register, together with respective discrepancies will also be prepared
Co-ordination and preparation of system disposal and write off of fixed assets
Preparation of FAR – GL Accounts reconciliation
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
