POSITION : Technical Systems Support Engineer

DESCRIPTION

• Responsible for the administration of In-House and Vendor supplied applications and the maintenance, support and upgrades thereof.
• Involved in the investigation and analysis of user problems and application bugs with subsequent problem resolution and technical testing of patches.
• The job also requires responsibility of the security of data and the technical architecture in which the applications are hosted.
• SLA compliance with regards to user support (quick turnaround times on logged calls)
• Setup and execute technical test plans for application changes, new deployment and upgrades
• Keep all application documentation updated at all times
• Construct a proactive maintenance cycle per application
• Reconcile data flow via application interfaces i.e. MAPS data from network systems and planning data
• Keep abreast of business process changes and communicate these to team members
• A sound understanding of the existing software applications and interfaces
• Adhere to all TSS Policies and Standards
• Administration of user security and access levels
• Monitor application performance and interact with technical teams to resolve performance issues

Programming Skills:

• PL/SQL and standard SQL
• Administration functions
• User security
• Application monitoring
• Specific application functionalities

Education

• BSc - Computer Science or related field from a reputable institution or
• IT Certifications

Experience:

• Application administration within the Telecommunications sector
• Technical architecture of applications including:
  • Hardware dependency and
  • Data models
  • Oracle PL/SQL Proficiency and relational database
  • Knowledge of BSS/ MSS Architecture
  • Technical report writing experience & Excel
  • Basic XML & UNIX
  • Basic knowledge of IIS Internet Information

Training:

• Formal training in application architecture principles, technology architecture and systems integration.
• Specific training on functional business processes
• User security training
