POSITION : Superintendent (Sr.& Jr.)

Description

  • Responsible for the running Maintenance and the Dry docking of an assigned number of vessels in order to maintain the technical status and to maximize the uptime of the fleet.
  • Investigate and analyse root causes of defects and take timely corrective and preventive actions.
  • Arrange surveys with Flag state and Classification Authorities and other relevant parties.
  • Ensure full compliance of vessel certifications with Flag state and Class requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute Dry dockings in line with quality standards, agreed budgets and time lines.
  • Supervise and evaluate activities and performance of third party contractors and vendors.
  • Ensure damages to be surveyed and repaired in close consultation with classification societies and the Insurance. Optimization and implementation of technical (incl. new build) standards.
  • Coordinating and executing the daily running Maintenance within budget on board of vessels.
  • Monitor and follow up on the Planned Maintenance System.
  • Generate and approve purchase orders and requisitions and follow up on goods received with ship’s staff.
  • Supervise, coach and instruct Chief Engineers if and when required to ensure smooth and professional on board technical management execution.
  • Undertake vessel inspections and report on the status of the vessels to the Regional Technical Manager or his deputy.

 Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical / Maritime engineering or Naval Architecture.
  •  5 years sea going experience as chief engineer or first engineer on vessels with more than 6000 BHP.
  • Experience in similar roles or willing to learn.
  • Team player with a collaborative approach, maintaining high standards and good work ethics.
  • Self-starter with a ‘hands-on’ and ‘can-do’ mentality with an eye for details.
  • Communicator and bridge-builder.
  • Fluent in English (verbally and in written).
  • This position is based in Lagos, Nigeria, on a rotational bases of 9 weeks on, 3 weeks off. Flights, accommodation and transport is arranged by company.
