POSITION : Payment Specialist
DESCRIPTION
- Have a proven track record of performing under pressure in a fast paced environment.
- Responsible for customer payments, cash reconciliation, assisting with trade confirmations, basic accounting tasks, and ad hoc projects. You will support the finance and trading team which are based in Kenya, however the operations cover multiple time zones and locations (Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, along with counter parties in Europe and the US).

Responsibilities
Payments:
- Work with payment providers, customer service, and finance department to research customer payment issue such as missing payments, invalid account details, or discrepancies
- Verify customer payments and provide proof of payments
- Book payments in various portals (BP website, bank platforms, payment processors)
- Work with the trader and customer service team to process customer transactions
- Maintain a statement of accounts for the clients
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding payment issues
- Provide support to customer support
- Confirm payment request and process according to policies
Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements and accounting records
- Work closely with the accounting to resolve reconciliation issues
- Work closely with the data analyst and trader to maintain transaction data integrity
Basic Accounting:
- Help compile month end support documentation
- Help ensure accurate accounting records
- Any other duty as assigned by the Head of Finance.
Requirements
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Enjoyment of working with customers and helping people
- Detail oriented and analytical
- Basic understanding of accounting principals
- Desire to work at a growing startup
- Degree from top school
- Solid MS Excel skills
- Comfortable working remotely-your direct report will be in Nairobi, Kenya
- Ability to perform at a high level in a fast paced environment
