Neem Foundation a non-governmental, peace-building and conflict prevention organisation is recruiting to fill the position below:

POSITION : Peace Coach

Description

  • Peace Coach will be providing counselling and emotional support to children through sport, mostly football. The coach will train students in football and conflict resolution and how those two activities interact.
  • The coach will bring the structuring values of sport to the heart of communities and individuals in crisis in Bama, Dikwa, Damboa, Mafa and Maiduguri Local Government Areas in Borno State.

Duties

  • Provides psychological assessment, testing and evaluation, referral, consultation, programme planning, chemical dependency counselling/education, prevention service/activities, individual, couples, group and family therapy.
  • Playing with children
  • Dealing with emergencies
  • Supervising junior staff
  • Organising workloads
  • Provides a full range of psychological services to clients.
  • Consults with other professionals, regarding the evaluation and treatment of clients.
  • Writing records
  • Teaching and referring football
  • Coaching physical exercise
  • Teaching physical therapy

Education

  •  Degree in any field. Master's Degree in Physical therapy or Physical education is an added advantage.

Requirements:

  • Ability to use initiative and establishing priorities
  • Ability to deal with emotionally charged and pressured situations
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Stamina to large workload
  • Ability to manage conflict and resolve complaints
  • Good health and fitness
  • Caring and compassionate nature
  • Excellent teamwork and people skills
  • Observational skills to effectively care for patients
  • Ability to work as part of a team; build and manage professional work relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to coach Football and train children

Language Skills:

  • English Language (Fluent) and Basic understanding of Hausa language,

Others:

  • Must have strong interest in Childcare; helping people rebuild their lives and work towards the development of Borno State.

Profile of Behaviour:

  • Confident, attention to detail, independent judgment, self-starter, reliable, team-player, friendly, flexible, disciplined, adaptable, numerate

Added Advantage:

  • Practical experience working with victims/ survivors of insurgency.
  • Academic or work experience in Psychology
  • Experience in managing Human Resources
  • Hausa speaker
  • Understanding of local Borneo languages
