HIPCITY Hub - A non-profit human development organisation providing social justice and humanitarian response in Nigeria is recruiting for the position below :

POSITION : WASH Project Support Officer

Responsibilities

  • Travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
  • Be fluent in Hausa, Kanuri/Shuwa and English.
  • Previous working experience in the development or humanitarian sector preferably.
  • Committed to the NGO’s mission, values and policies.
  • Be based in Maiduguri, Borno State and work under the supervision of the State Programe Lead.
  • Provide support to context assessment/Provision of safe water points and develop materials for WASH/hygiene promotion.
  • The WASH officer will be involved in the selection, design and construction of water systems using ground or surface water, including abstraction, storage, treatment and distribution for new systems or rehabilitation of existing systems.
  • Conduct and promote safe hygiene and mobilize members of the beneficiary communities.
  • Assist in the distribution of WASH NFIs Items kits to registered beneficiaries.

Requirements

  • Minimum of National Diploma in Public Health, Sociology, Rural Development or other related fields.
  • Able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
  • Be fluent in Hausa, Kanuri/Shuwa and English.
  • Previous working experience in the development or humanitarian sector preferably.
  • Previous experience in hygiene promotion and community mobilization.
  • Motivated, creative, flexible and, culturally sensitive.
  • Good knowledge of the intervention area/s and local economy.
