Role Purpose

  • Working as part of the Employment Relations & Inclusion Team within the People and Culture department of Plan International Inc (PII), the Equity Diversity & Inclusion (EDI)/Anti-Racism(AR) Specialist will design, implement, and coordinate EDI initiatives for our country offices, regional offices and global hub. The role would also be expected to also support EDI and ER projects as required.
  • Joining a critical function at an exciting time as we build our Employee Relations & Inclusion team, the EDI/AR Specialist reports to the Head of Employee Relations & Inclusion and will be responsible for implementing the EDI/AR Roadmap and supporting PI’s ambition of becoming an Anti-Racist organisation.
  • The role will work with the respective People & Culture management colleagues, and leadership teams in country and regional offices and the global hub on integrating EDI into end-to end processes including total reward, recruitment etc and on a range of EDI projects. The role would also be expected to support ER case management work as required.

Dimensions of the Role

  • This role supports Plan International Inc – Country Offices, Regional Hubs and Global Hub.

Accountabilities

  • Coordinate PII’s work in implementing and embedding the EDI/ Anti-Racism (AR) Roadmap and agenda and ensuring its success from a People and Culture perspective
  • Coordinate and contribute to the implementation of the EDI/AR plan by gathering information from stakeholders and researching approaches and evidence to support the creation of a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees can thrive
  • Lead and support specific projects and priorities as identified in the EDI/AR Plan including working with stakeholders.
  • Working with the respective People & Culture management colleagues in country and regional offices and the global hub to integrate EDI and intersectionality in end-to-end processes including recruitment, reward, staff benefits, talent management and leadership development. 
  • Support and facilitate EDI/AR training programs and workshops.
  • Undertake research on EDI topics and issues and propose recommendations to senior management.
  • Implement, coordinate and work with Country Offices to develop the EDI and AR action plan 
  • Lead the development of EDI/AR Audit and P&C EDI annual plan in consultation with the Head of ER&I. 
  • Support, provide guidance, and attend meetings of EDI networks.
  • Respond to requests for EDI/AR data and information as required.
  • Collect and review EDI/AR analytics and data against success measures, to drive continuous improvement embedding EDI.
  • Lead the promotion of diversity at Plan International by organising events and awareness sessions.
  • Triage ER casework and identify potential solutions to address different case types and actions appropriately using guidelines. Manage ER cases that come through Safecall, Plan International’s anonymous whistleblowing platform, and the incident reporting systems by following established protocols as required
  • Provide EDI/AR related advice to staff, managers and HR colleagues as required 
  • Ensure that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures

  • Country HR Managers/ Country Directors/Directors of Sub-Region
  • Other relevant internal stakeholders.

Technical Expertise, Skills and Knowledge
Essential:

  • Experience of implementing and monitoring EDI/ Anti Racism interventions at the country, regional or global level.
  • Experience of working in EDI and managing staff led networks
  • Deep understanding and appreciation of intersectionality and EDI/Anti Racism.
  • Experience of implementing people aligned processes which recognise and promote intersectional EDI across all aspects of the employee and people manager life cycle at a country/regional/global level.
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to develop insights and trends.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills and an ability to communicate complex information concisely and clearly.

Desirable:

  • Degree qualification in Human Resources, Social Sciences or similar.
  • Experience working in a People and Culture/HR team within an international organisation.
