We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: HSE Manager

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines aligned with regulatory standards and industry best practices
  • Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of HSE programs to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with project goals and legal requirements.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety and environmental hazards. Develop strategies to minimize or eliminate these risks.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to project teams, contractors, and management regarding HSE matters, fostering a culture of safety awareness and responsibility.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor HSE performance. Regularly analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and facilitate safety training programs for all project personnel to ensure a deep understanding of safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
  • Oversee incident investigations and root cause analysis for any accidents, near misses, or environmental incidents. Implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies and authorities, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, permits, licenses, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure they adhere to our HSE standards and align their practices with our project's safety and environmental objectives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in HSE practices to continually enhance the project's safety culture and environmental performance.
  • Prepare and present regular HSE reports to project management and stakeholders, communicating progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH is mandatory
  • Proven track record of at least 5 years in an HSE management role, preferably in large-scale industrial projects
  • In-depth knowledge of local and international HSE regulations, standards, and practices.
  • Experience in managing and leading HSE initiatives, risk assessments, incident investigations, and emergency response planning.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire a safety-focused culture across diverse teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to addressing potential issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
