Job description
- The Sales Representative is responsible for maximizing sales of a segment’s products and services for their account’s within a specified market or region.
- The Sales Representative is a role occupied by a highly competent, motivated and experienced individual who has a particular interest in remaining in sales and is very effective.
- He will report to the Sales and Operations Management
Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this office shall include but is not limited to the following:
- The Sales Representative role is one where the market, customer and Client realize the benefit of an increased level of relationship and technical understanding which demands skills that can only be developed from a longer placement on an account or in certain geography.
- Listens for and communicates opportunities for other segments/product lines (including bundled product and services), market and competitive intelligence and communicates it to operations, segment and account management.
- Communicates changes to account and sales management.
- Maintains integrity in all words and actions ensuring ethics, quality and HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) are evident and a key differentiator.
- Leads large bids in his/her location
- Understands customer’s local environment and identifies new technical applications suited to their needs.
- Current on all new technologies relevant to his/her geography. Ensures marketing collateral for those technologies is available.
- Coordinates scheduling with the service delivery organization as required.
- Ensures that customer issues are responded to and managed effectively.
- Coaches junior staff and assists with talent management activities
- The Sales Representative has additional responsibilities commensurate with his/her experience of mentoring and coaching other junior Sales Reps. In the absence of the Sales Manager, the Senior Sales Representative is the designated delegate.
- Establishes lasting, professional relationships with customer contacts. Meets regularly with customers, and is intimately familiar with their business plans and objectives.
- Assists management in developing revenue forecast for monthly/quarterly and annual budgets.
- Communicates by example, the value and use of business systems for driving sales performance.
Qualifications and experience
- Must have a degree from a reputable university. Engineering background will be an advantage.
- Builds lasting and professional relationships with customers at key levels
- Expert in pipeline and opportunity management processes
- Excellent coaching skills
- Proven record of successful negotiations
- Good knowledge of segment’s technical offering
- Good knowledge of markets where customers operate
- Effectively uses Sales Business Systems
- Must have a Minimum of 4 - 5years experience in sales or marketing within the Oil & Gas sector
- Good knowledge of competition’s offering, pricing tactics and sales strategies
