Psychosocial Advisor Job Vacancy At Save the Children

 Employment Nigeria 01-Jan-1970 NIGERIA , NIGERIA ,

Save the Children is the world's leading independent organisation for children. We work in 120 countries. We save children's lives; we fight for their rights; we help them fulfil their potential.

We work together, with our partners, to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.

We have over two million supporters worldwide and raised 1.6 billion dollars last year to reach more children than ever before, through programmes in health, nutrition, education, protection and child rights, also in times of humanitarian crises.

By mid-2013 most of our international programmes will be delivered through a merged operation with 14 000 staff, managed through seven regional hubs and reporting to a relatively small, central office. We're changing to become more efficient, more aligned, a better partner, a stronger advocate, a magnet for world-class people and relevant for the 21st century.

Job Title: Psychosocial Advisor

The role
The psychosocial support advisor will be responsible for strengthening the quality of Save the Children's psychosocial support programmes which form a key part of our emergency response efforts in Upper Nile state. During this 6 month deployment, the successful candidate will review our current psychosocial activities, provide technical support and training to Save the Children field staff and local partners, community members and authorities, and establish a strong base for future psychosocial programming as part of a holistic child protection programme.
It should be noted that the country context is very challenging and precarious and that field conditions are fairly basic. It should also be kept in mind that the environment is complex, under-resourced and blighted with operational and systemic challenges, especially due to the rainy season. Cool heads and kind hearts are welcomed.
