The Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS) is the regulatory agency in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security established by Act No. 26 of 2007 as Amended 2015 for regulation of all issues pertaining to animal husbandry in Nigeria.

In accordance with the Act establishing it, the Institute hereby invites applications from qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Registrar / Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full-time

The Position

  • The position of Registrar/CEO is a tenured appointment.
  • The Registrar is the Chief Executive Officer and the Secretary to the Council and is also responsible to the Council for the day-to-day administration of the Institute.

The Candidate

  • The candidate for the post of Registrar/CEO of the Institute shall be a Registered Animal Scientist with not less than 10 years post-qualification and also with post-qualification experience in Public Service or Industry matters of not less than 10 years. Such a candidate must be in good standing in the profession as evidenced by:
    • Annual Practising Licence with evidence of payment as and when due in the last five (5) years (2020-2024),
    • Evidence of participation in the Mandatory Continuing Professional Education (MCPE) in the last five (5) years (2020-2024),
    • Evidence of participation at the Annual General Meetings of the Institute in the last five (5) years (2020-2024).
  • The candidate must have a clear vision for the continued growth and development of the Institute in accordance with its Strategic Plan, demonstrate team building skill, entrepreneurial skill and ability to attract and mobilize other resources for the development of the Institute.
  • The candidate must also be able to demonstrate how to position the Institute in order to continue to employ regulatory policies and instruments to contribute the overall objective of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
  • Also, the Registrar/CEO must be able to command the respect of the national and international professional communities and must enjoy excellent physical and mental health.

Terms and Conditions of Service

  • The Registrar / CEO shall hold office for four (4) years in the first instance renewable for another but final term of four (4) years subject to good performance.
  • The remuneration and other Conditions of Service are as applicable to similar positions in the Federal Public Service.
