Job Description:
- The chaplain will offer spiritual support to the needs of children and community members through prayer and reflection, counseling and provide educational programs.
Responsibilities:
- Provides counseling to members of the church and school
- Organizes worship services and offers spiritual guidance to students and community members
- Provides leadership to empower the parish to focus on outreach and achieve its mission and goals
- Offers sermons each week based on lectionary readings
- Active leader in congregational development and attends to the needs within the parish to build and nurture relationships
- Inspires youth and incorporates them into the life of the parish creating and scheduling opportunities for the youth and children
- Plans, staffs and leads formation programs
- Reads and studies Scripture
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree
- Completed courses in theology or related field
- Leadership roles in youth ministry, adult formation and community outreach
- Pastoral care skills and experience in a variety of settings
- Evidence of preaching and communication skills to diverse audiences
- Gift and passion for teaching and preaching
- Excellent oral and communication skills
