Job Summary

Operate the audio mixing desk in a live (or recorded as-live) TV studio environment in a professional manner under direction from the production staff, including OS working with remote sources and multiple clean fold-back feeds, provision of multiple IEM feeds for presenters, and the use of spot-effects devices to play music beds as presentational needs demand.
Configure and maintain a suitable group of mixer preset memories and configurations to simplify routine operation, and to ensure a consistent on-air presentational style, whilst accommodating the editorial requirements of the production staff.
Supervise the use of radio-mics within the studio, and to ensure that hard-wired alternatives are available to fill-in in the event of an equipment failure.

Qualification and Requirements

Extensive operational experience of live audio mixing in a broadcast TV production environment.
A 3rd-level qualification in the technical aspects of TV Production, or a related vocational qualification
At least 3years experience as a Sound Operator in a TV station.
Familiarity with modern digital audio mixers and related peripheral equipment, and professional microphone placement techniques.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
A reasonable understanding of the technology underlying the equipment being used and how technical limitations impact on how it can be used operationally.
A pro-active attitude to assisting fault-finding in conjunction with the facility's engineering staff.
Ability to remain calm in pressurized environments, and capability to take initiative where appropriate to maintain a professional on-air output
