Job Summary

  • To operate the video switcher in a live (or recorded as-live) multi-camera studio environment in a professional manner under direction from the production staff, including OS working with remote sources, DVE effects, and multiple layers of keyed production graphics.
  • To configure and maintain a suitable group of mixer preset memories to simplify routine operation, and to ensure a consistent on-air presentational style, whilst accommodating the editorial requirements of the production staff.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A relevant 3rd level vocational qualification in communications engineering.
  • At least 3years experience in a similar capacity at a large channel, gaining a wide experience of vision mixing on a number of different production formats.
  • Extensive operational experience of vision mixing in a live broadcast TV production environment
  • Familiarity with modern digital vision mixers which integrate DVE and multiple layers of keying facilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A reasonable understanding of the technology underlying the vision mixing equipment being used and how technical limitations impact on how it can be used operationally.
  • A pro-active attitude to assisting fault-finding in conjunction with the facility’s engineering staff.
  • Ability to remain calm in pressurized environments, and capability to take initiative where appropriate to maintain a professional on-air output.
  • B.Sc/HND or equivalent.
