Role Summary/Purpose:
- Develop and implement a global welding engineering strategy with a focus on world class manufacturing, aligning the welding strategy to overall Manufacturing direction.
- Be the Domain Expert for welding for Manufacturing, develop standard procedures & training, evaluate new technology, and network with all facilities to develop the link between sites to share information and work to solve issues.
Essential Responsibilities
- Demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes for an area or business segment.
- Able to develop and execute objectives for self and others. This role has the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
- Advance engineering concepts and basic technical requirements such as aero, thermal, physical properties data into functional product definition designs.
- Support troubleshooting and RCAs of major Shop issues to validate Process changes and evaluate potential changes to improve Design or reflect Manufacturing Capabilities.
- Work with Platform, NPI, and Manufacturing sites to develop the latest technology, to support productivity, quality, and next generation products
- Standardize equipment, procedures and processes to improve quality, realize savings, and improve domain knowledge.
- Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies & Procedures, Engineering Standards, Product Definition Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements.
- Evaluate and influence new and revised Engineering Standards and Product Definition Operating Procedures.
- Ensure all interface characteristics between components are established and agreed upon by the Designers of mating parts.
- Concurrently manage multiple projects monitoring progress and quality and ensure schedule requirements are met.
- Direct the efforts of assigned team members, providing leadership in the form of training, mentoring, talent development, and checking of their work.
- Assume a leadership role in the overall accomplishment of goals and in the direction and development of Product Definition Engineering (PDE) team members.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- B.Sc.degree in Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing capacity
Desired Characteristics
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- In-depth knowledge of welding, API, ASTM, and cladding
- Strong working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance as it relates to individual parts and overall assemblies
- Web based knowledge, word processing, and electronic spreadsheet/presentation skills are preferred
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to perform in a team environment, across functions, and with suppliers and revenue sharing partners
