POSITION : Head, Ophthamology & Transplant Franchise

Requirements

  • University degree in Science and /or degree in Business marketing or clinical research
  • 7-10 years marketing experience within pharmaceutical industry, inclusive 3 years in management position
  • Strong leadership skills to direct a large team of marketing and/or sales staff
  • Well-developed planning and resource allocation skills
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Sensitive to the pharmaceutical market and strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of country top-line and organisation objectives through effective leadership and management of the Franchise, and effective working relationships with relevant internal functions and external business partners.
  • Ensure resources are used in an optimal manner with adherence to expenditure budgets. To prepare monthly updates on A/P spend.
  • Determine in conjunction with relevant personnel, the appropriate portfolio mix/focus based on optimal resource allocation, internal capability, market fit, competitive dynamics, and corporate expectations.
  • Devise and implement product strategies that will achieve optimal long-term performance across the channel portfolio in terms of market share and product performance. Work with various functions to ensure Novartis capability is in line with long-term portfolio strategy.
  • Be involved in processes including Launch Readiness Review (LRR) and actions to prepare pipe-line products for launch. To participate/contribute in monthly S&OP meetings and to project and sign-off on product forecasts.
  • Manage the IPS and annual marketing/operational planning and budgeting processes. To identify critical success factors and develop well thought out marketing programmes core to addressing critical success factors and implementing approved product strategies within agreed budgets. To ensure plans/strategies accommodate the changes taking place in the market and respond to customer/patient needs.
  • Train the field force on products, promotional messages, and selling skills.
  • Ensure that effective working relationships are in place to obtain input to plans/programmes. Own and execute/implement plans as required.
  • Be fully conversant with the customer, market place, key dynamics, and policies in the market, in addition to an up-to-date knowledge of key competitors, their competitive argumentation, and their likely strategies.
  • Ensure that all marketing/promotional material is NP4 approved before use or issuance in the field, and manage the internal NP4 approval process.
  • Manages advertising and creative agencies to ensure optimal advertising and promotional activities/materials to support the Franchise.
