Job Title: Field Office Finance Assistant
Locations: Shani, Dikwa & Mongunu, Borno
Department: International

Role purpose

  • To support CA financial management functions at the field offices and ensure that adequate financial records are kept at field offices and payment requests are processed on a timely basis.
  • The finance associates will be responsible for preparing financial documentation, petty cash reimbursement, petty cash advances and for coordinating payment to volunteers etc
  • The role is required to be familiar with CA and donor financial compliance requirements and to ensure that these are operationalised in the field office they are responsible for.

Role Context:

  • The finance team leads on all financial reporting in the country program and is responsible for managing the financial grants secured from donors.
  • This role sits in the various field offices in the humanitarian team and links up strongly with the Maiduguri Field Office.

Key Outcomes:

  • Cash, bank books and other financial documentation is maintained and reconciled on a monthly basis.
  • Stock is reviewed and valued and submitted to Finance officer on a monthly basis for posting to SUN.
  • Coordinates payments to volunteers, casual workers etc.
  • Ensures Christian Aid and donor financial policies and procedures are complied with.
  • Timely submission of reports to line manager to enable final reports to be prepared on a timely

Role Requirements
Relationships:

External:

  • Maintains and builds relationships with donors, third parties, suppliers and other relevant external agencies.

Internal:

  • The position is line managed by the Finance Officer who is in turn managed by the Finance Coordinator. However, for day to day operational issues, the Associate will report to the most senior CA staff in the field office. The role links up strongly with the Maiduguri Finance Team,particularly the Finance Coordinator as well as the Program leads.

Decision making:

  • Make decisions to assist in the smooth running of financial processing. Providing advice on financial policies and procedures to local Christian Aid staff. Support the maintenance of all financial records.

Analytical skills:

  • Ability to apply logical thinking and common sense to routine work in a specific area. Occasionally providing analysis or advice on financial matters.

  • Will familiarise self with CA policies to ensure that field office and staff based there are complying.

Person Specification
Applied skills/knowledge and expertise:

Essential:

  • First Degree in Accounting
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience working with institutional donors, particularly WFP, FAO etc
  • Experience working with an Accounting software, preferably SUN

Desirable:

  • At the early stages of an IFAC accountancy qualification.
  • IT competency required Basic.

Job Title: Regional Human Resources Officer - Africa

Role Purpose

  • To provide functional and/or technical support and implement operational plans to enhance the organisation’s performance through our people in the Africa Division
  • The role will primarily focus on enhancing the capacity of the regional team to offer an effective day to day operational service to Country Programmes and Regional Teams
  • The role will also closely support the Head of People Africa in the execution and follow up of project activities to enable timely strategic interventions and, effective talent management in the Africa Division.

Key Outcomes

  • Country teams and managers, are provided with high quality advice and customer service on operational day to day advice, particularly around implementing CA HR policies and procedures to ensure appropriate application.
  • Country HR staff understand HR processes and systems and are trained and supported on any issues arising, by creating trusted relationships with key stakeholders in Country teams and at divisional level to enable successful people management.
  • Recruiting managers and are supported with recruitment processes on EARCU as necessary for timely broadcast of vacancies.

Job Title: Driver/ Logistics Assistant

Role Purpose

  • To provide logistics support to the Humanitarian Response Programme.
  • To drive staff, visitors and goods to required destinations timely and safely including co-operation with officials at check points.

  • To ensure regular maintenance of Christian Aid Vehicle and where requires, ensure any complex vehicle repairs are carried out by the appropriate service provider.

Role Context:

  • The role works within the Administrative role family and is key to ensuring staff, visitors and goods are taken to their required destination within Christian Aid’s offices in-country with significant travel within country.

Key Outcomes:

  • All staff and visitors transported to and from their destinations in a safe and lawful manner, within as reasonable comfort as practicable and on time. This includes the use of seat belts for all passengers.
