On African continent NRC is present at selected regional hubs and NRC focuses on understanding the unique needs of the African mobile phone user and creates concepts and visions to fulfill these needs. NRC is working e.g. with University of Nairobi (Kenya) and University of Cape Town (South Africa) to solve the unique African language, cultural, educational and infrastructure challenges that can all be improved through mobile technologies.

We are looking for a Product Marketing Manager based in Lagos, Nigeria to be responsible for crafting the consumer value proposition, messaging and positioning for the products in scope of the role.

Description:

  • The Product Marketing Manager will ensure the launch of a product that are appealing to core consumers, will drive product marketing activities to deliver compelling and differentiating promotion and product positioning according to the consumer value proposition and will also lead product launch planning with strong consumer focus to ensure effective program management of a cross-functional team. Included in the scope is to also ensure timely deliveries according to the CLE (Commercial Launch Execution) process.
  • His/her responsibility is to ensure success with upcoming product launches, related marketing campaigns and contribution to the sales as well as portfolio planning, drive range choice and assess market acceptance with a post launch / campaign product analysis.
  • Product Marketing Manager will work closely with the broader marketing team, sales, care, DX and region (Dubai & Global), to drive alignment across all functions and region.
  • The individual will be expected to show strong leadership, strategic thinking, mental agility, business acumen and project planning and implementation ability.


Main Responsibilities:
Business Accountability

  • Work closely with the Business Management teams to prepare product wave plans and contributes to game planning decision making
  • Drive focus of the portfolio planning process and big impact product launches (make choices)
  • Assist in the setting of targets in collaboration with sales (activations per week, sell though etc)
  • Provide ongoing price proposals based on product life-cycle & competitor landscape

 

Current Range

  • Understand the current range, the KSP’s & the role of the product within the market (versus competitors)
  • Propose discontinuations & drive ramp-downs as new products are launched (product life-cycle)
  • Understand the changing competitor landscape and the impact on the current range’s consumer relevance


New Launches

  • Define and test the consumer value proposition and drive product marketing
  • Develops product positioning and messaging that differentiates your products in the market
  • Works closely with the Marketing teams, sales, the broader business and region to create compelling marketing briefs and 360 marketing plan based on the consumer value proposition
  • Plan and drive the product lifecycle to support consumer dialogue and in-market sales
  • Ensure timely GTM/CLE process deliveries


Launch Program Execution:

  • Ensure that Nokia products are launched and sustained in the best possible way to maximize business and brand results while achieving the desired strategic market impact through the entire product lifecycle
  • Ensures timely and high quality deliverables
  • Provide consistent and clear tracking & reporting on launch program status and results, and actively flag any gaps or deviations in the status


Post Campaign Analysis

  • Put a post campaign analysis deck together for each launch itemizing what worked, what didn’t as well as key learnings for future launches
  • Ensure Post Campaign analysis is feedback to the marketing, sales & business team as well as to region to drive alignment around deliverables


Market Insights

  • Feedback local insights and competitor advantages to region / global to drive future innovation to meet evolving market needs
  • Feedback required innovation or product launch adaptation to region / global and lobby with solid business plans to meet local evolving consumer requirements


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or equivalent
  • Understanding and proven track record of marketing touchpoints, marketing communications objectives and consumer needs/insights, with ability to integrate these elements into a holistic product marketing plan
  • At least 5+ years of relevant previous work experience in consumer marketing roles and evidence of strong marketing competence set and consumer driven marketing mind-set
  • Excellent presentation, process and project management skills, maturity and demonstrated track record to interface with senior leadership and senior customer audiences
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to network strongly across organization and key stakeholders
  • Strong program management skills and experience in leading complex cross-functional programs/projects
