MTN JOB VACANCY FOR PAYROLL OFFICER

JOB TITLE: PAYROLL OFFICER
JOB LOCATION :LAGOS

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Ensure that all payroll related inputs are submitted promptly
  • Review all payroll related inputs and check for accuracy
  • input payroll instructions from HR into the payroll system
  • Performs a first line review of input of overtime allowances, shift allowances, callout allowances, etc. into the payroll system
  • Reviews input of statutory deductions no (NSITF, NHF), spouse and staff phone bills etc
  • Run the payroll software
  • Uploading new employees into the payroll system
  • Review cost center changes, all deductions and check for accuracy of payroll
  • Print out the payslips for all national staff
  • Print out schedules of statutory deductions i.e. PAYE, NSITF, Pension etc
  • Write transfer instructions to all banks, attaching the relevant schedule of payment
  • Advise and resolve all payroll related problems, complaints and ensure prompt resolution

PAYROLL RECONCILIATION

  • Provide relevant payroll reports
  • Monthly upload of staff salary cost in IFS
  • Reconcile the impact in the general ledger for all salary related accounts
  • Reconcile all salary accounts with the banks
  • Provide adhoc reports on staff salary costs to the relevant units within finance
  • Compute all end of services entitlements or indebtedness
  • Ensure resigned staff are not included in payroll
  • Compute entitlement based on resignation date
  • Advise HR of the net position
  • Clears all repayment cheque through Finance Expenditure department
  • Raise all appropriate entries on IFS
  • Raise all entries relating to cheques issued from the salaries unit, fund transfer instructions, stopped/returned salaries.
  • Reconcile all salary-related general ledger accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of Salaries unit annual budget
  • Review salaries journal vouchers raised manually to determine their accuracy and to ensure they impact the correct general ledger accounts.
  • Monitors the amortisation and accruals of all salaries related payments.

STATUTORY COMPLIANCE

  • Coordinate the processing, remittance and reconciliation of all payroll related statutory liabilities (PAYE, NSITF, NHF) to ensure MTNN’s compliance with all payroll related tax laws and regulations.
  • Keep accurate and up to date records of all payroll related payments made to statutory authorities
  • Administration of statutory audit (concerning PAYE, NSITF, NHF) process and respond promptly to payroll related queries raised by the tax authorities and other regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate the preparation of year-end tax forms (Form A) for both National and Expatriate staff.
  • Filing of tax returns in compliance with the deadline of the statutory authorities.
  • Prepare PAYE audit support data for external auditor’s use.
  • Registration of new MTNN office/staff with the SBIR, FBIR & NSITF to avert any penalty that may arise.
  • Administration and deduction of staff/spouse handset and phone bill.
  • Prepare monthly reports related to the payroll statutory deduction within MTNN
  • Respond to queries related to payroll statutory deduction within MTNN

SKILLS

  • A first degree in a numerate discipline.
  • 4 years work experience of which includes at least 2 years experience in payroll management
