Malaria Consortium (www.malariaconsortium.org) is one of the worlds leading non-profit organisations which is dedicated to the comprehensive control of malaria and other communicable diseases in Africa and Southeast Asia. Malaria Consortium works with communities, Government and non-Governmental agencies, academic institutions, local and international organisations; to ensure good evidence supports delivery of effective services, providing technical support for monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities for evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning.

The organisation has been operational in Nigeria since 2008 and recently opened a country office in Nigeria to fully establish itself with long term commitment.

Malaria Consortium now seeks to recruit professionals in its newly established Country Office and new projects / programmes in Nigeria.

Job Title: Management Accountant

Location: Abuja

• The Management Accountant will work closely with the management, technical and operations team in-country to provide pro-active, efficient, timely and relevant financial information to project managers of Malaria Consortium and required for decision making.
  
• The job holder will also ensure the compliance of all MC financial procedures, contracts and agreements are in line with relevant regulations and laws.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

•     Providing assistance to project managers to forecast expenditure, track financial commitments, cash needs and take remedial actions where there are no overspends.
•    Providing support to the Country Finance Manager to prepare updated cash flow forecasts to the head office with support from the Roving Financial Accountant.
•   Maintaining an update of coding system for all programmes. Ensuring project managers are supplied with accurate budget codes for all sub-activities and strict adherence to such codes.
•    Coordinating the preparation of all project budgets and organise an annual budget for review by the Country Finance Manager and Country Director.

Qualification
Candidates should possess the following:

•     Bachelors degree or international qualification in Accounting or other related discipline is required.
•     Additional skills required for this position include: good management and organization skills, report writing skills and an excellent working knowledge of accounting softwares
•     A minimum of 5-years experience working in a finance team with two years experience as a management accountant.
•     Previous experience and knowledge of NGO donors and their financial reporting requirements as well as an excellent inter-personal and communication skill is essential for this position.
