The Regional Centre for Training in Aerospace Surveys (RECTAS) is an Inter-Governmental Organization established in 1972 under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) at Ile-Ife, Nigeria, in 1972 for capacity building in Geoinformatics and related fields (see www.rectas.org ) The Centre hereby invites applications from experienced, resourceful, trustworthy, result-oriented, computer literate and suitably qualified candidates for professional, General Service and Consultancy Service positions.

The Professional Staff positions are for local and international applicants while the General Service and the Consultancy Service positions are local service positions.

The salary for each position is as indicated; in addition, professional and general service staff are entitled to housing, transport, meal subsidy, leave, spouse and children allowances. RECTAS exchange rate is US $1=N145.

Lectureship positions

The following lectureship positions with their respective annual salary range, minimum qualifications, publications and experience are for local and international applicants. Bilingual as well as candidates from francophone countries are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should specialize in any of the following fields:

(c) Cartography

Position: Librarian II – RP01

Salary Scale: $8.701.00 – $13.804.00 per annum

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should be computer literate and should possess a Bachelors Degree with a minimum of second class lower from a recognised University, plus a Post Graduate Diploma in library Studies or extensive training and experience in the field

Duties

The officer will be required to perform the following duties:

Working on the selection, evaluation, acquisition and organisation of books and other library materials.
Indexing periodicals,
Compiling bibliographic and reading list,
To carry out such other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director.

Position: Assistant system Analyst/Lecturer RP01

Salary Scale : $8.701.00- $13.804.00 per annum

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should posses any of the following qualifications and experience
Applicant must possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of second class lower degree in Computer Science from a recognised university plus a minimum of one year experience
Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of second class lower degree in numerate science plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer science and a one year experience

Duties

The Officer will be required to perform the following duties among others:

Information systems analysis and design
Maintenance of computer systems and hardware administration
Support in teaching of basic computer courses
To carry out such other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director.

Lectureship Duties

The Lectureship duties will include:

Conceiving and executing existing and new programmes and courses in the relevant fields
Serving as team leader in the initiation and prosecution of research projects
Supervision of students’ research work
Giving lectures in area of specialization
To carry out such other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director,

All candidates are expected to demonstrate ability to provide administrative leadership for an academic/technical department in a tertiary institution.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicant must possess Ph.D with 15 publications (at least 3 in international peer reviewed and indexed journals and a maximum of 3 conference proceedings);
At least 15 years experience (not less than 10 years in a University or research institution) and ability to initiate scientific research, supervise M.Sc. and Ph D research and attract international grants.
Demonstrable expertise and analytical research skills applying Photogrammetry or cartography or remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software (ILWIS, ARCGIS, ERDAS IMAGINE, Database Design, etc).

Position: Associate Professor- RP7

Salary Scale: ($17,482 – $30,369)

Qualifications and Experience

Applicant must possess Ph.D with 10 publications (at least 2 in international peer reviewed and indexed journals and a maximum of 3 conference proceedings);
At least 12 years experience (not less than 8 years in a University or Research Institution) and ability to initiate scientific research, supervise M.Sc. & Ph.D research & attract international grants

Qualifications and Experience

Applicant must possess Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of second class lower in any of the fields of Management, Humanities or Hospitality, with a minimum of 1 year cognate management and administrative experience

Duties
 Successful officers shall be assigned to any or all of the following duties
 General administrative duties and services including recording of minutes
 Perform supervision duties in the management of students hostels Guess Houses
 To carry out such other duties as may be assigned

Position: Administrative Assistant CRG 05

Salary Scale: $3.724 per annum
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should posses a National Diploma or equivalent in Secretarial Duties, Public
Administration or related fields and at least one year working experience

Duties
Perform administrative/secretarial and other general duties
Carryout other duties as may be assigned.

Position: Secretary – CRG 05
Salary Scale: $3.724 per annum
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should hold National Diploma or equivalent in secretarial duties with 100 and 50 words per minute in shorthand and typewriting from recognised institutions, and at least one year working experience.
In addition applicants should posses ICT Skills, in particular, the application of the following packages: Microsoft office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and PageMaker.

Position: Nurse II CRG 03

Salary Scale: $2.069 per annum

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should posses Registered Nurse certificates and a minimum of one year experience

Duties

Carryout medical registration of staff and students

Provide first aid and treatment of staff and students as may be prescribed, at the RECTAS Health Bay and the OAU Health Centre

Attend to other health needs and duties as maybe assigned.

Driving and care and cleanliness of official vehicles
Carrying out minor repairs and servicing of official vehicles
Monitoring the regular repair and servicing of official vehicles
