Position Title: VAT/GST Operations Manager – West Africa

Role Summary/Purpose:
The successful candidate for the VAT operations Manager – West Africa will primarily be responsible for providing VAT controllership support to GE businesses in the West Africa region and ensuring compliance and reporting needs are met within set deadlines. The role involves detailed work between GE businesses, the Corporate Tax team and the various tax authorities.

Essential Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VAT/GST Operations Manager for Sub-Sahara:

    Oversee the VAT/GST controllership support provided to businesses in West Africa
    Deliver VAT/GST reporting and related services to GE businesses
    Ensure that all VAT/GST returns and associated statistical filings for client businesses are filed and paid on time
    Complete a program of risk-based reviews of business VAT/GST returns and associated processes to ensure accuracy of filings
    Analysis of VAT/GST documents for accuracy using thorough and in-depth knowledge of VAT/GST regulations
    Provide support during inspections and queries from local tax authorities
    Communicate with business unit , tax leaders and other sub-contracted support functions
    Drive standardization, automation and process improvements to ensure VAT/GST compliance
    Work with tax, finance and other sub-contracted support functions to document and support all significant VAT/GST reporting
    Support development and recommendation of VAT/GST operational processes and internal policies
    Training of finance, business and other sub-contracted support functions on the use of the GE on-line VAT/GST return tool
    Fee and SLA agreement with all client businesses and management of finances including budgets and cost liquidations


Qualifications/Requirements:

    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
    Minimum 5 years of VAT or finance experience.
    Demonstrated strong communication skills including English
    Ability to work cross-functionally.
    Proficient use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    Must have a valid exemption or discharge NYSC certificate
    Must be authorized to work full-time without any restriction in Nigeria

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

    Local tax or professional accounting qualification.
    Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex issues.
    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
    Experience managing projects.
