Adexen Recruitment Agency is mandated by a multinational pharmaceutical company to recruit a Chief Operating Officer for its operations in Nigeria.

Responsibilities
The COO is responsible for growing the organization nationally and to ensure that the businesses being managed are profitable ventures and that the owned brand(s) is more efficient and adequately focused on customer satisfaction and quality products.
He/she is to report to the CEO.
Strategic Planning and Leadership
- Developing and formulating strategic directions for the businesses in the country
- Collaborate with the CEO to redefine and implement the strategic plan while ensuring that the budget, staff and priorities are aligned company ‘s core mission
- Provide inspirational leadership and direction to all executives, and ensure the continued development and management of a professional and efficient organization;
- Establish effective decision-making processes that will enable the organization to achieve its long- and short-term goals and objectives
- Determine the strategic direction for operations through the development and regular monitoring of a strategic plan
General Management and Operations
- Develop and manage operational matrix for monitoring the success of the country’s businesses
- Ensure that the business operates at the strategically accepted Gross Profit % level
- Ensure that all internal controls are applied by examining company’s and Internal Audit Compliance Reports, following up on any recommendations as well as by your own observations
- Monitors the quality control of various activities with regards to product manufacturing, spares, services, packaging and sales
- Fully responsible for liaising with local regulatory authorities
- Set and assign operational goals for all departments from time to time to realize the annual targets and also reward each department as a team after the targets are achieved.
- Ensure compliance to local or territorial government minimum expectations and regulations
- Review historic and projected cash flows from an operational and capex point of view
- Communicate projected capital funding requirements to company on a quarterly basis
- Ensure that a proper organizational structure is in place for operations, management and finance as laid out in the approved Business Plan/Strategy
- Be aware of market trends regarding competition, products and customer requirements and act as required
Financial Management and oversight
- Working with the Director of Finance, manage and oversee all financial and business planning activities
- Direct and administer all financial plans while overseeing business policies and accounting practices
- Review and analyze financial reports
- Support and advise the CEO in decision making
- Lead and support organizational budgeting process
- Oversee reporting and monitoring of organizational performance metrics
- Provide overall financial oversight and monitoring
- Ensure that relevant financial data is presented to the CEO and senior management team
Requirements
- Minimum of a B.Sc. ideally with an MBA or related advance degree
- Minimum of 15 years of overall professional experience in a pharmaceutical/manufacturing/Biotechnology enviroment
- At least 6 years in senior management position in a pharmaceutical company
- Exceptional ability to build and grow new businesses
- Significant marketing/branding and fiscal management experience
- Excellent in organizational management with the ability to coach senior-level staff, to manage and develop high-performance teams
- Analytical and decisive decision maker with the ability to prioritize and communicate to staff key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve organizational goals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent public speaking skills
- Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, flexible, and innovative approach to operational management
- Passion, humility, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must possess excellent organizational, project management and communication skills
